Suspect in Sunday’s Homicide in College Park in Custody

Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting inside of a College Park apartment on Sunday. The suspect, 21-year-old Davie Serpas of the 9500 block of 48^th Place in College Park, was taken into custody early this morning in Washington DC. He’s accused of fatally shooting 24-year-old Rogelio Sierra-Duran of Hewitt Avenue in Silver Spring.

On September 24^th, at about 5:25 am, patrol officers were called to the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road for a shooting. One of the victims, Sierra-Duran, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Preliminarily, the second victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect and the victims got into an argument while attending a party at the apartment. That argument escalated into the shootings. 

Serpas is charged with first and second degree murder. He’s in custody in the District awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
