Detectives are investigating a homicide in Silver Spring. The victim is 19-year-old Herson Mejia-Alverez of 67th Avenue in Riverdale. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.On May 23rd, at approximately 12:50 pm, officers were in the area of the 8900 block of New Hampshire Avenue when they discovered Mejia-Alvarez in a wooded area. Detectives began a death investigation. The following day, the medical examiner ruled the cause of death blunt force trauma and the manner was homicide.Detectives are working to establish a motive and identify a suspect(s).Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
