PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Suitland

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Suitland. The victim is 71-year-old Blanche Jones of Bock Road in Oxon Hill. 

On October 9th, at approximately 1:00 pm, patrol officers were called to Silver Hill Road near Brooks Drive for a pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation reveals the involved car was heading northbound on Silver Hill Road when it struck the victim as she attempted to cross the roadway. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. The driver of the car was not hurt and remained on scene. Preliminarily, it appears the victim was in the crosswalk at the time. Investigators are now working to determine who had the right of way.
