PGPD Arrests Suspect in Weekend Homicide in Riverdale

The Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Riverdale on Saturday evening. The victim is 40-year-old Curtis Mosley of Dean Drive in Hyattsville. The suspect, 39-year-old James Jacob Young of the 4000 block of 23rd Parkway in Temple Hills, was taken into custody in Washington, DC, today.  

On June 15th, at approximately 7:45 pm, patrol officers responded to the 6000 block of Patterson Street for a shooting. The officers located the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died several hours later at a hospital.

In the moments after the shooting, the victim told witnesses the name of the person who had just shot him. Mosley and Young were acquaintances. The motive remains under investigation.

Young is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He’s in custody in Washington, DC, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
