*****Spanish Translation Follows*****

Update July 13, 2020: We are continuing to investigate this collision and have learned new information. It’s now believed a total of three vehicles struck the pedestrian. The first striking vehicle remained on the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles did not. We are asking the community for assistance as we continue to search for those two drivers and their vehicles. The first vehicle that left the scene is described as a white or gold SUV, possibly a Chevrolet. At the time of the collision, it would likely have had minor damage to the lower corner of the front bumper. The second vehicle is a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Toyota. It would also have possible damage to the undercarriage and minor damage to the lower front bumper. Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.

Update: The victim in Saturday night’s fatal pedestrian collision is identified as 41-year-old Howard Rich of Clinton. Upon conducting further investigation, our investigators have determined that the second vehicle that struck the victim is a white SUV that was being operated by a female driver at the time of the collision. The vehicle may have minor damage to the bottom right corner of the front bumper.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Saturday night. The deceased pedestrian’s name will be released once his family is notified.

On June 27th, at approximately 10:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4700 block of Allentown Road for a pedestrian collision. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was in the roadway on Allentown Road when he was struck by a car in the northbound lanes. The victim was then struck by a second car a short time later. The driver of the second vehicle did not remain on the scene. Preliminarily, it appears the victim was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.

Investigators do not have a description of the second vehicle that struck the pedestrian.
