PGPD Investigates Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Palmer Park

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred Sunday evening in Palmer Park. The deceased pedestrian is 29-year-old Sean Smallwood of Washington D.C. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that on April 30, 2022 between the hours of 11:00 and 11:30 pm  a vehicle was traveling in the 7700 block of  Burnside Road. The driver of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who for reasons that remain under investigation, was in the roadway. The striking vehicle did not remain on the scene of the crash. Mr. Smallwood was taken to an area hospital where he died a short time later. On May 1, 2022 at approximately 11:30 am officers were dispatched to the hospital and an investigation into the collision was initiated. According to witness accounts, a dark colored vehicle was observed in the area at the time of the collision.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque Peatonal en Palmer Park

La Unidad de Análisis y Reconstrucción de Choques investiga un mortal choque contra peatón que se registró el domingo en la noche en Palmer Park. El fenecido peatón fue identificado como Sean Smallwood, de 29 años y vecino de Washington DC.

La investigación preliminar reveló que el 30 de abril de 2022, entre las 11:00 y 11:30 pm, un vehículo viajaba cerca de la cuadra 7700 de Burnside Road y su conductor impactó a un peatón, quién, por razones que continúan bajo investigación, se encontraba en la carretera. El vehículo que le impactó no permaneció en la escena del choque. Al Sr. Smallwood le trasladaron a un hospital en donde falleció poco después. Posteriormente, el 1ro de mayo de 2022, a eso de las 11:30, un grupo de oficiales fue despachado al hospital e inició la investigación del choque. Según las declaraciones de testigos, un vehículo color oscuro fue avistado en el área al momento del choque.
