PGPD Officers Receive National Recognition

Two members of the Prince George’s County Police Pistol Team earned high marks in the 2012 National Police Shooting Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.


Sgt. Daryl Kries and Cpl. Tam Cragg represented the department at the annual event held in mid-September. The competition involves shooting from a variety of positions and includes courses of fire ranging from three to 50 yards. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the National Police Shooting Championships.


Since 1960, the NRA has offered a shooting program to police departments and law enforcement agencies. The program’s objective is to train police officers in the safe, efficient and timely use of their firearms. To further assist law enforcement, the NRA also created Police Pistol Combat competitions.

• Open Class 3000/Overall Sharpshooter: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 4th Place
• Open Class Semi-Auto Championship/County Law Enforcement: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 4th Place
• Grand Championship/Overall County Law Enforcement: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 5th Place
• Distinguished Revolver Championship: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 5th Place
• Stock Service Revolver/Sharpshooter -County Law Enforcement: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 1st Place
• Open Class 3000 Championship/Sharpshooter Class: Sgt. Daryl Kries - 3rd Place
• Open Class Revolver Championship/Sharpshooter Class: Cpl. Tam Cragg - 3rd Place
• Open Class Revolver Championship/Sharpshooter Class: Sgt. Daryl Kries - 4th Place
