Updated December 13, 2012 at 4:45 pm:  The pedestrian who was fatally struck in this accident has been identified as 46 year-old Terraine Saunders, of the 9100 block of Little Stone Drive in Fort Washington.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Fort Washington.

On December 13, 2012, at 6:30 am, police officers responded to the 9200 block of Livingston Road in Fort Washington for a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian suffering from trauma sustained in the collision. The adult male was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests the driver of a green Subaru fell asleep while traveling on Livingston Road.  The man’s vehicle left the roadway, jumped a curb, and struck the man who was on the sidewalk.  A woman who was also on the sidewalk was not hurt.  The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.  Speed, alcohol, and/or drugs are not currently believed to be factors in this accident.  The investigation is ongoing.
