PGPD to Host Iron Team Competition Featuring First Responders & Military Members

It’s a test of true grit and teamwork and will push competitors to the limits. This year, 36 teams are accepting the challenge, including five from the PGPD.  The competitors of this increasingly popular event are coming from as far away as New Jersey.

On the morning of September 25, 2013, the four-person teams will face obstacles that will test their physical and mental strength.  The competition is open to law enforcement, fire personnel and members of the military.  This year, it will be even more challenging with several new obstacles, including a Ranger Crawl, Keg Throw and Climb, Pyramid Team Tire Flip and Stone Flip.  Here’s a look at the 2012 event:

We are inviting members of the media to come out that morning to tackle a media obstacle course. That obstacle course will be ready to go at 6:00 am for morning live shots.  Lieutenant Charles Magee, Commander of the PGPD's Emergency Services Team, will be available for live interviews as well.

When:   September 25, 2013
Time:     9:00 am to 3:00 pm (approximate end time)
Where:  T. Howard Duckett Park
              16904 Supplee Lane
              Laurel, MD

Live truck parking is available. Members of the media are asked to RSVP by Monday, September 23, 2013, if they plan to attend and take part in the obstacle course.  Members of the community are welcome to come out and cheer on the competitors from various observation points along the course.
