Probationary Officer Themis Speis has been suspended from the Prince George's County Police Department after he was charged Sunday with second degree assault. The September 14, 2014, incident stemmed from a domestic situation while Speis was off duty. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
Speis has been with the department for approximately 18 months. He is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, District VI. His police powers have been suspended. The Special Investigation Response Team is leading the investigation. Disciplinary action regarding this matter could result in termination.
