Fall is here and temperatures are definitely dropping.
Winter is around the corner. The Prince George's County Police Department is
once again partnering with the One Warm Coat Organization to collect coats for
those in need in our community. The District II COPS Unit is leading the
department’s effort this year. We are seeking clean, gently used coats and
jackets. All sizes, colors and shapes are welcome. Last year, the department
collected 699 coats and we’d love to get even more this year! Our collection effort
will end on Monday, November 24, 2014.
One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that
supports and encourages coat drives. It helps individuals, groups, companies
and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them free of
charge to people in need. More than 1,000,000 coats have been collected since
1992. Collection boxes are set up at locations throughout Prince George’s
County including at the six PGPD district stations. Please refer to the One
Warm Coat Website: www.onewarmcoat.org for more information
or contact Corporal Mercer at jrmercer1@co.pg.md.us.
