Death Investigation in Seat Pleasant Ruled Homicide


The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Seat Pleasant. The victim is 24-year-old Donta Simms of Rochelle Avenue in District Heights. The victim's body was discovered in September. His death was ruled a homicide on Tuesday. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On September 30, 2015, at about 11:20 am, City of Seat Pleasant patrol officers were called to Seat Pleasant Drive at 71st Avenue for the report of a body found. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. The remains were later identified as Simms. 

On November 10, 2015, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide. The cause of death was trauma to the upper body. 

Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.
