Homicide Unit detectives charged a man in connection with a fatal stabbing on Sunday. The suspect is 36-year-old David Strickland Jr. of the 11000 block of Westport Drive. The victim is 44-year-old Idowu Ipaye of Frederick.
On May 3rd, at approximately 9:10 am, patrol
officers were called to a
home in the 11000
block of Westport Drive in the Mitchellville area for the report of a stabbing. They located the victim
inside of the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. He died at
a hospital a short time later.
The preliminary
investigation revealed the
stabbing occurred at a group home. The suspect is a resident at the home. The
victim is a caretaker. The motive remains under investigation.
Strickland is charged with first and
second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the
Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Detectives Arrestan Sospechoso de Mortal Apuñalamiento
Detectives de la Unidad de Homicidios
acusaron a un individuo en conexión a un mortal apuñalamiento ocurrido el
domingo. El sospechoso fue identificado como David Strickland Jr., de 36 años
de edad y vecino de la cuadra 1100 de Wesport Drive. Por otro lado, la víctima
fue identificada como Idowu Ipaye, de 44 años de edad y vecino de Frederick.
El 3 de mayo, a eso de las 9:10 de la
mañana, nuestros oficiales acudieron a un hogar en la cuadra 11000 de Wesport
Drive, en el área de Mitchellville, tras
recibir información sobre un apuñalamiento. Los oficiales hallaron a la víctima
dentro de la residencia con múltiples puñaladas. Éste falleció en el hospital
poco después.
La investigación preliminar determinó
que el apuñalamiento ocurrió dentro de un hogar de cuidado especial. El sospechoso
es residente del lugar, mientras que la víctima era uno de los cuidadores. El
motivo aún permanece bajo investigación.
Strickland enfrenta cargos por
asesinato en primer y segundo grado, entre otros. Éste se encuentra bajo la
custodia del Departamento de Corrección, sin derecho a fianza.
