PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Capitol Heights

Update September 4, 2020: Investigators have now identified the deceased pedestrian. She is 43-year-old Carrie MacDonald. Her last known address was in Arlington, VA. Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to call 301-731-4422. 

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Tuesday night in Capitol Heights.

 

On August 25th, at approximately 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8600 block of Central Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian. The officers located an adult female victim in the roadway. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when she was struck by a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Central Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was not in a crosswalk when she was struck. The operator of the motorcycle remained on the scene. He suffered what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque Contra Peatón en Capitol Heights

La Unidad de Análisis y Reconstrucción de Choques investiga un mortal choque contra peatón ocurrido el martes en la noche, en el área de Capitol Heights. Los investigadores aún buscan determinar la identidad de la fenecida peatona.

El 25 de agosto, a eso de las 9:00 de la noche, oficiales del Condado acudieron a la cuadra 8600 de Central Avenue tras recibir información sobre un choque peatonal. Los oficiales hallaron a la víctima, una mujer adulta, en la carretera. A esta le declararon muerta en la escena.

La investigación preliminar reveló que la peatona intentaba cruzar la carreta cuando fue impactada por una motocicleta que viajaba sobre Central Avenue en dirección este. A base de la investigación, se entiende que la víctima no se encontraba sobre un cruce peatonal al momento del impacto. El conductor de la motocicleta permaneció en la escena. Este último sufrió lo que aparentaban ser lesiones menos severas.
