Detectives
are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Temple Hills
on Thursday. The man killed in the crash is
24-year-old Tavon Todd of N Street in Southwest Washington.
On May 18th, shortly before 5:00
pm, patrol officers responded to the 5400 block of Temple Hills Road for the
report of a crash involving a car and a county school bus. Todd was the only
occupant in the involved car. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Two adults
were on the bus. Prior to striking the bus, Todd’s car also struck an additional
car on Temple Hills Road. No one in that car was hurt.
The
preliminary investigation reveals Todd had been shot outside of a business in
the 6400 block of Allentown Road a few minutes prior to the crash. Following
the shooting, Todd left the scene. Detectives are working to identify and
locate another man who was also at the scene of the shooting.
An
autopsy will determine Todd’s cause of death.
