Bennett Louis |
His mostly skeletal remains were found in a wooded area in Beltsville back in October of 1984. A man and his son found them while out walking. Our detectives worked to learn about this victim and solve his murder, but were never able to identify him. Thanks to advanced fingerprint technology at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, we now know his name. He’s Bennett Louis. He was 27 years old and his last known address was in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was originally from New Roads, Louisiana.
Louis had been shot multiple times. It’s estimated his remains had been in the wooded area in the 12000 block of Baltimore Avenue for up to three months. Cold Case Unit detectives and the victim’s family do not know why he was in our area in 1984. The last time he had been seen alive was in 1983 by family in Berkley, California.
Despite the more than three decades since his death, detectives are determined to provide answers to his family. Anyone with information on this case, no matter how small the detail, is urged to call 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in this case.
