Homicide Unit detectives are
working to find the suspect(s) who fatally shot two men Sunday in Suitland. The
victims are 22-year-old Courtney Simms of 23rd Parkway in Temple
Hills and 23-year-old Anthony Douglas of 28th Avenue in Marlow
Heights. A cash reward of up to $25,000 is being
offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On July 9th,
at about 7:20 pm, patrol officers responded to the 4600 block of Silver Hill
Road for the report of a double shooting. Two of our officers were nearby and
responded within minutes, deploying their department-issued trauma kits. Simms
was pronounced dead on the scene. Douglas was taken to the hospital in critical
condition where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The preliminary investigation
reveals the two victims were shot outside in an alleyway between two
businesses. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive.
