Homicide Unit detectives have
taken over an investigation into a 2015 shooting now that the victim has died
of his injuries. The victim was 22-year-old Delonio
Richburg of Van Buren Street in Annapolis. At the time of the shooting two
years ago, detectives did not believe the shooting was random.
On July 26th, 2015, at
about 1:30 am, patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Hubbard Road for
the report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers discovered two victims
outside suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to the
hospital in critical condition but were later released. On July 1st,
2017, Richburg was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment where he died.
An autopsy later revealed that he died from complications of the shooting.
The case was originally handled by
the Regional Investigation Division and is now being handled by the Homicide
Unit.
Detectives are still working to
establish a motive and to identify the suspect(s) in this case. A reward of up
to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment
in this case.
