Detectives Arrest Suspect in Camp Springs Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives arrested a man for a fatal shooting in Camp Springs on Saturday.  The suspect is 38-year-old Marcus Burns of the 6200 block of Maxwell Drive in Camp Springs. He is charged with fatally shooting his step-daughter’s father, 35-year-old Damon Palmer of Bruce Place in Washington DC.

On June 2nd, at approximately 12:50 am, patrol officers responded to the 6200 block of Maxwell Drive for the report of a shooting. Palmer and a second adult male were discovered outside suffering from gunshot wounds. Palmer was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect shot Palmer and the second victim during an argument. Burns has admitted to shooting the victims.

Burns is charged with first and second-degree murder and other related charges. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
