PGPD Charges Father in Connection with Son’s Death

The Prince George's County Police Department last night arrested a Palmer Park man in connection with the January death of his 3-year-old son. The suspect is identified as 38-year-old Thomas Everett Holland, of the 7600 block of Allendale Drive. He faces charges of first degree child abuse and manslaughter.

On January 26, 2014, at about 8:30 am, officers responded to United Medical Center in Southeast Washington for a death investigation.  Holland had driven his unresponsive child there for treatment.  The boy was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. An autopsy and toxicology tests were performed on the victim.

The recently returned toxicology results revealed a number of drugs in the child’s system, including toxic levels of cocaine, acetaminophen and codeine. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.  Given the amount of toxic drugs and chemicals in the child’s system, authorities don’t believe they were accidentally ingested.

On Thursday, May 15, 2014, PGPD detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Holland and arrested him at his home last night without incident. He remains in custody at the Department of Corrections.
