PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Capitol Heights

The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Capitol Heights. The victim is identified as 24-year-old Allen Joseph Washington of the 3400 block of 23rd Street in Southeast Washington.

On May 24, 2014, at about 6:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Central Avenue and Cindy Lane for a crash involving a SUV and a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the SUV tried to make a left turn from eastbound Central Avenue onto Cindy Lane. Washington, who was traveling westbound on Central Avenue, collided with the SUV. Preliminarily, it appears the driver of the SUV failed to yield the right of way to Washington.

Washington was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the SUV was not hurt and stayed on the scene after the collision.

Anyone with information on this collision is asked to call the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 306-5640.
