PGPD Searches for Suspect Who Assaulted Jogger in Mitchellville


The Prince George’s County Police Department is searching for the man who assaulted a jogger out on a morning run today in Mitchellville.

On August 7, 2014, at about 6:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 1500 block of Silverado Court for the report of an assault. When they arrived, they spoke with a woman who said she had just been assaulted by a stranger while out jogging.  As the victim turned around to head home, the man was standing in front of her and hit her in the head with a stick. He hit her several more times before she was able to fight him off. He ran into the woods at the end of Golf Course Drive.  The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries but has since been released.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, roughly 5’8 with a thin build. He had on a black hat, black hoodie, black shirt, black running pants with a white stripe and was carrying a black backpack.

Detectives are working to establish the motive and identify the suspect. This is the first such reported incident in the area.
