PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Hyattsville

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision. The victim is 40-year-old Oscar Amaya of Columbia Road in Northwest Washington.

On November 14, 2014, at about 8:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Ager Road and East West Highway for a collision involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, they found Amaya suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he died on November 27, 2014. The driver was not hurt. 

The preliminary investigation reveals Amaya was trying to cross Ager Road when he was hit by a van. Amaya was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver stayed on the scene.
