PGPD Obtains Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Glenn Dale Homicide

Chet Markland Jarrett Jr.

The Prince George’s County Police Department obtained an arrest warrant and is actively searching for the suspect wanted in connection with Friday’s homicide in Glenn Dale. The suspect is 17-year-old Chet Markland Jarrett Jr. His last known address is the 100 block of B Street in Lothian, MD. He’s charged as an adult with the murder of 17-year-old Jajuan Mcrae of Brookstone Terrace in Glenn Dale.

On August 21, 2015, at about 9:55 pm, patrol officers responded to the 4300 block of Rockport Lane for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found Mcrae outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died a short time later at a hospital.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the homicide stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the suspect and the victim. On Friday, the two teenagers got into a fight which escalated into the fatal shooting.

Jarrett is charged with first and second degree murder.

Anyone with information on Jarrett’s whereabouts is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
