PGPD Charges Suspect in Domestic-Related Murder of Amanda Jones

Updated October 22, 2015: At this point in the investigation, evidence leads detectives to believe Ms. Jones was killed approximately 25 minutes before an acquaintance called Public Safety Communications expressing concern about Ms. Jones on Monday night. Ms. Jones was found stabbed in her upper body on Tuesday morning. Detectives are working to determine the weapon used in this homicide.
 
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with the murder of Amanda Jones inside of her Upper Marlboro home on Monday night. The suspect is 56-year-old Mitchell Jerome Cole of the 3700 block of Acquinsicke Place in White Plains, MD. He's charged with first degree murder.
 
On October 20, 2015, at about 10:25 am, a family member called 911 after finding Jones suffering from trauma in her home in the 900 block of Andean Goose Way. She was pronounced dead on the scene. 
Cole and Jones had previously been in a relationship. The motive for the murder is under investigation. Cole is in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
