The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a bicyclist in College Park. The victim is 77-year-old Robert Dickey of 38thStreet in Southeast Washington.
On September 12th, at about 7:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 4600 block of Paint Branch Parkway for a collision involving a car and a bicyclist.
The preliminary investigation reveals the involved car was stopped at a red traffic signal on Paint Branch Parkway. Dickey was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk and attempting to cross the street. When the traffic signal turned green, the driver pulled forward and struck Dickey.
Dickey was taken to the hospital where he died several hours later. The driver of the car remained on the scene.
