Detectives Arrest Man Who Robbed Victim After Trying to Sell Him Shoes

Prince George’s County Police detectives identified and charged a man in connection with a recent  armed robbery in Capitol Heights. The suspect is identified as 33-year-old Jermall West of the 1500 block of Nova Avenue in Capitol Heights.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on January 6th at approximately 10:30 am, West approached the victim outside of a business in the 6700 block of Walker Mill Road. West tried to get the victim to buy a pair of shoes. When the victim refused to make the purchase, West pulled out a knife and robbed him of money. The victim and suspect did not know each other.   

“We believe Mr. West may have targeted others in this area. He was very brazen in his actions that morning. If anyone has had a similar experience with him, our detectives would like to speak to you,” said Major Sunny Mrotek, Commander Regional Investigation Division.

West is charged with armed robbery and related charges. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. A court commissioner ordered him held on a no-bond status.

Detectives Arrestan Individuo que Asaltó a una Víctima luego que Intentara Venderle unos Zapatos

Detectives de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s identificaron y acusaron a un individuo en conexión a un robo a mano armada en Capitol Heights. El sospechoso fue identificado como Jermall West, de 33 años de edad y vecino de Nova Avenue en Capitol Heights.

La investigación preliminar reveló que el 6 de enero, a eso de las 10:30 am, West se acercó a la víctima en las afueras de un negocio ubicado en la cuadra 6700 de Walker Mill Road. West intentó que la víctima le comprara un par de zapatos. Cuando la víctima se negó a hacer la compra, West sacó una cuchilla y le quitó el dinero. La víctima y el sospechoso no se conocían entre sí.

“Entendemos que West puede haber atracado a otras personas en el área. Fue muy descarado en sus acciones esa mañana. Si alguien ha tenido alguna experiencia similar con éste, nuestros detectives quisieran comunicarse con usted,” fueron las palabras del Comandante de la División de Investigaciones Regionales.

West enfrenta cargos por robo a mano armada, entre otros. Al momento se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección. Un comisionado de las cortes ordenó que se le retuviera sin derecho a fianza.
