PGPD District IV Hosts 23rd Parkway Community Day

Prince George’s County, Maryland…District IV Commander, Major James A. Harper and the District IV COPS Office joined community leaders for the First Annual 23rd Parkway Community Day in the Hillcrest Heights neighborhood of Temple Hills. The event was designed to maintain an open dialogue between the community and the police department, and an opportunity for the District IV Command Staff to address the community’s concerns about crime and neighborhood safety.

District IV COPS officers shared information with residents in the neighborhood about the “Summer Crime Initiative” as well as information educating the community on crime prevention and safety tips.

“What made this event a success was the collaborative effort between our police department and the Community of Hope Church, four different apartment complexes within a one block radius, the Maryland National Capital Park Police (MNCPP), Hillcrest Heights Elementary School, and Civic Associations from other neighborhoods within the District IV serving area. This is crime fighting through community engagement,” said Major James Harper.
