PGPD Charges Second Suspect in Bowie Domestic-Related Murder; Suspect in Custody

Demarco James

The Prince George’s County Police Department charged a suspect for the August murder of 27-year-old Michael Leo Reese in Bowie.  The suspect is identified as 31-year-old Demarco Gregory James of Northeast, Washington.

On August 11, 2013, at about 6:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 2500 block of Nicol Circle for the report of a shooting.  Upon their arrival, patrol officers found Reese inside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Shortly after, patrol officers arrested 32-year-old Vincent Michael Martin of Northeast, Washington, on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests Martin assisted James after James entered the home of an ex-girlfriend on Nicol Circle.  James confronted Reese inside the home and shot him.

James is charged with first degree murder.  He was arrested in the District of Columbia on October 1, 2013, where he remains in custody on an unrelated charge.  He will be extradited to Prince George’s County at a later date.  Martin remains in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
