PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision In Upper Marlboro

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Upper Marlboro.  The victim is identified as 17-year-old Alex Edward Cole of Derby Manor Lane in Upper Marlboro.

On October 28, 2013, at about 7:10 pm, patrol officers were called to the 2800 block of Ritchie Marlboro Road for the report of a collision. When they arrived, they discovered two cars had been involved in the crash.  Cole was a passenger in one of the cars.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the Hyundai that Cole was riding in was heading southbound on Ritchie Marlboro Road.  For reasons which remain unclear, the driver crossed into the northbound lane and struck a second car. The driver of the Hyundai and two additional passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the second car also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
