PGPD Arrests Upper Marlboro Day Care Employee for Child Abuse

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit arrested 25-year-old D’Aira Nichel Thompson in connection with the physical child abuse of a 3-year-old boy at a day care in Upper Marlboro.

Thompson, of the 10400 block of Gloucester Lane in Cheltenham, has been charged with Second Degree Child Abuse, and Second Degree Assault.  

The preliminary investigation revealed on October 18th, at approximately 8:00 am while working Thompson was attempting to restrain the Victim in a chair. During the struggle Thompson told the boy to lay his head down and slammed the boy’s head on the table. The Victim suffered a contusion to the right side of his head. Thompson is the Victims teacher.
