PGPD Investigates Fatal Hit-and-Run in Oxon Hill

Our Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating this morning's fatal hit-and-run in Oxon Hill. The driver has now been identified. Charges against him are pending. The victim is 23-year-old Lisbon Wiggins of Chesapeake Avenue in Southeast DC.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver struck Wiggins at the intersection of St. Barnabas Road and Wheeler Road at about 3:05 am. Wiggins and a friend had just been involved in an unrelated, minor collision with another car. Wiggins and her friend were outside of their car exchanging information with the second driver. At that moment, the investigation reveals the striking driver struck Wiggins with his pickup truck. He fled when a patrol officer arrived on the scene. Wiggins was pronounced dead on the scene.
Shortly before noon, the striking driver turned himself in at our District V station in Clinton. Charges against him are pending. Investigators will be consulting with the State's Attorney's Office.
