Uber Driver Arrested for Kidnapping & Assault

Westagne Pierre

Detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a kidnapping and assault in College Park. The suspect is 29-year-old Westagne Pierre of the 9100 block of Spring Hill Lane in Greenbelt. The suspect was working as an Uber driver. The victim was his customer.

The preliminary investigation reveals Pierre picked up the victim in Washington, DC, the night of October 18th. Pierre drove the victim to her home in Virginia, but instead of dropping her off, he drove her to a hotel in College Park. Once there, the suspect removed the victim from the car and carried her into a hotel room. The investigation reveals he also used the victim’s credit card a short time later.

Detectives arrested the suspect on Thursday. He’s been charged with kidnapping, assault and for fraudulently using the victim’s credit card. Additional charges are pending after consultation with the State's Attorney's Office. Pierre is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
