The
Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating a fatal
pedestrian collision that occurred on Friday in Capitol Heights. The victim is
40-year-old Dwayne Phillip Harris of Washington, D.C.
On
December 27th, at approximately 5:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the
intersection of Central Avenue and Coolidge Street for a collision involving a
pedestrian. The officers located the victim in the roadway. He was pronounced
dead on the scene.
The
preliminary investigation reveals the victim was struck as he attempted to
cross Central Avenue. He was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The involved driver remained on the scene and was not hurt.
