PGPD Releases Photo and Description in Active Ongoing Search for Domestic Violence Shooting Suspect at a School Bus Stop

Update January 25, 2017: Suspect is now in custody after turning himself in at our District IV Station.

Prince George’s County Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 42 year old Roland Eugene Simms of no fixed address for attempted 1st degree murder, reckless endangerment, first and second degree assault, and other related charges. 

Simms is considered armed and dangerous.  PGPD officers are engaged in an active search and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.  Simms is described as a black male, 42 years old, 5’8, 210 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes. 

At 7:12 AM on Tuesday, January 24th, Simms approached an adult woman who was standing at a school bus stop at the intersection of Chester and Winthrop streets in Oxon Hill.  The two are known to each other.  After a brief verbal argument which turned physical, Simms pulled out a gun and shot the victim.  The victim is being treated at a local hospital.

There were several elementary school age children standing at the bus stop at the time of this incident.  None of them were injured.
