PGPD Investigates Discharge of Firearm

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating how a child accessed a gun inside of an apartment in Temple Hills this afternoon. While playing with the gun, it went off causing a slight graze wound.  No one else in the apartment was injured.

 

On December 29, 2022, at approximately 2:00 pm, PGPD officers responded to the 2500 block of Southern Avenue. The child was transported from the scene to a hospital for treatment.

 

Detectives are working to determine how the child accessed the weapon and whose gun it is. The investigation is on-going.

Patrol Officers Arrest Suspect Minutes After Attempted Armed Carjacking

 


Prince George’s County Police patrol officers arrested a man who had minutes earlier attempted an armed carjacking in District Heights. The suspect is 18-year-old Messiah Jones of District Heights.

 

On December 28, 2022, at approximately 7:15 pm, officers responded to the 2700 block of Lorring Drive in District Heights. The victim advised officers the suspect had demanded his car keys at gunpoint. The victim complied. The suspect entered the victim’s car but couldn’t start the engine and then ran from the scene. Officers quickly responded to the victim’s call for help and observed the suspect nearby in the 3000 block of Donnell Drive. He was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun with an extended magazine was recovered from his waistband.

 

Jones is charged with armed carjacking and possession of a firearm.

Oficiales de Patrulla Arrestan a Sospechoso Minutos Luego de Atentado de Carjacking a Mano Armada

Oficiales de patrulla del Departamento de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s arrestaron a un individuo quien minutos antes había intentado llevar a cabo un carjacking a mano armada en District Heights. El sospechoso fue identificado como Messiah Jones, de 18 años y vecino de District Heights.

El 18 de diciembre de 2022, a eso de las 7:15 pm, oficiales acudieron a la cuadra 2700 de Lorring Drive en District Heights. La víctima le comunicó a los oficiales que el sospechoso le había exigido las llaves de su auto a punta de pistola. La víctima accedió. El sospechoso entró al auto de la víctima pero no pudo encender el motor y entonces huyó de la escena. Missing Man Found

UPDATE: Mr. Nolen has been safely located.

Fred Nolen 3rd 

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing man. He is identified as 76-year-old Fred Nolen 3rd. He was last seen in the 2800 block of John A Thompson Road in Temple Hills on December 25, 2022, at approximately 5:00 pm.

Mr. Sullivan is a black male, 6’0” tall and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, plaid shirt, and black jeans. He was last seen driving a gray Hyundai Santa Fe with Maryland registration plate 1CZ1577.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Updated January 4, 2023: The deceased pedestrian is identified as 42-year-old Luciana Da Silva of Elkridge.


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Langley Park. Investigators are working to identify the deceased pedestrian so her family can be notified.

On December 23, 2022, at approximately 5:50 am, officers responded to University Boulevard and 23rd Avenue. 

The Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on University Boulevard and for reasons still under investigation, struck the victim. The decedent was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The driver was not injured and remained on scene.

PGPD Identifies Driver in Fatal Collision in Accokeek

Updated December 28, 2022: The deceased driver is identified as 36-year-old Diega Chartelle Clapp of Upper Marlboro.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that took place early Friday morning. Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the deceased driver, an adult female, so her family can be notified.   

On December 23, 2022, at approximately 1:55 am, officers responded to the area of Indian Head Highway and Berry Road for a single vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of an SUV was traveling southbound on Indian Head Highway, when for reasons that remain under investigation, lost control of the vehicle, and struck a utility pole. She was pronounced dead on scene.

PGPD Identifies Victim of Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Suitland

Updated December 29, 2022: The deceased pedestrian is identified as 29-year-old Dae'Quann West of Temple Hills.


The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Thursday night in Suitland. The identity of the deceased pedestrian, an adult male, will be released once his family is located and notified.

On December 22, 2022, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road. 

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a sedan was driving westbound on Silver Hill Road, when for reasons under investigation, struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was not injured and remained on the scene.

PGPD Arrests Two Juvenile & Two Adult Suspects in Connection With Two Recent Armed Carjackings

The Prince George’s County Police Department has made arrests in two armed carjackings that occurred earlier this week. Among the arrested are two juveniles and two 19-year-old adult males. 

On December 20, 2022, at approximately 8:30 pm, two suspects carjacked a food delivery driver at gunpoint in the 8100 block of Allendale Drive in Landover. On December 21, 2022, at approximately 8:50 pm, detectives with the PGPD's Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement (WAVE) team located that carjacked car in the 7700 block of Allendale Drive and conducted a stop. The occupants ran from the car but a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old males were quickly arrested after a short foot pursuit thanks to the assistance of the PGPD’s Guardian One helicopter. A loaded gun and 76 grams of marijuana were recovered. The two teenagers are being charged as adults with firearms offenses and possession of stolen vehicle. The 16-year-old was arrested in April of 2022 for the carjacking of a food delivery driver. In that case, he was charged as a juvenile with armed carjacking.

 

In a separate case, on December 19, 2022, at approximately 8:30 pm, a victim was carjacked at gunpoint in the 6500 block of Annapolis Road in Landover Hills. On December 21, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, detectives assigned to the Carjacking Interdiction Unit and WAVE located the car used by the suspects in the carjacking on Monday. The detectives stopped the suspect’s car in the 8200 block of Annapolis Road. The two occupants were arrested. The suspects are 19-year-old Sean Franklin Mills of Capitol Heights and 19-year-old Gregory Parker of Northeast, Washington, DC. Two loaded firearms were recovered. The car the suspects used in Monday’s carjacking was stolen in an armed carjacking on December 4, 2022, in the 6100 block of Old Central Avenue in Capitol Heights. The suspects are charged with carjacking in connection with Monday’s case. Additional charges are pending.

Missing Teen Found

The Prince George's County Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in finding a missing teen. She is identified as 16-year-old Kennedi Ridley. She was last seen in the 5200 block of Boydell Avenue in Oxon Hill on December 21, 2022, at approximately 8:00 am.

Ms. Ridley is a Black female, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt, tan khakis, multi-colored Ugg boots and has bright red braided hair.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Temple Hills

The Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning in Temple Hills. The victim is 26-year-old Christopher Earl Wilson of Capitol Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

 

On December 21, 2022, at approximately 2:15 am, officers responded to a parking lot in the 6400 block of Old Branch Avenue for a shooting. Officers located Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds. He died of his injuries at a hospital a short time later.

 

Investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine a motive.

PGPD Investigates Recent Carjackings

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Carjacking Interdiction Unit is investigating three carjackings that occurred Monday evening in the county. At approximately 6:20 pm, a carjacking was reported in the 3300 block of Dodge Park Road in Landover, at 8:30 pm a carjacking occurred in the 6500 block of Annapolis Road in Landover Hills and at approximately 10:25 pm, a carjacking took place in the 2100 block of Brooks Drive in District Heights. 

Homicide Unit detectives are looking into whether a man was shot and killed during a carjacking in the 10000 block of Campus Way South in Largo at approximately 11:00 pm. The motive for that case is under investigation. 

At this time, there is no indication the cases are connected. Carjackings are a concern for our agency and agencies across the region. Our Carjacking Interdiction Unit and the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement Team (WAVE) is working around the clock to identify those who would commit this violent crime and has made more arrests this year than in 2021. As of December 14, 2022, there have been 89 adult arrests and 104 juvenile arrests. That compares to 69 adult arrests and 79 juvenile arrests at the same time in 2021.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in Largo

The Homicide Unit is working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) who fatally shot a man Monday night. The victim is 54-year-old Lee Alexander Thomas of Largo. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On December 19, 2022, at approximately 11:00 pm, officers responded to a gas station in the 10000 block of Campus Way South for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located Thomas suffering from gunshot wounds. He died of his injuries at a hospital several hours later.


Detectives are working to determine a motive. Preliminarily, detectives are looking into whether Thomas was shot during a carjacking.
