Detectives Arrest Suspect in Mount Rainier Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in the city of Mount Rainier. The suspect is 39-year-old Louis Gregory of Brentwood. He is accused of the murder of 22-year-old Freiyer Yanez-Salas of Washington, D.C.

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 7:30 pm, Mount Rainier Police officers responded to the 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they located the deceased victim inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Two other adults, one male and one female, were also shot. They were transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victims during a dispute.

Gregory is charged with first- and second-degree murder and other related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
