Detectives Charge Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives charged a man in connection with the killing of his brother. The suspect is 32-year-old Rene Pop Chub of Capitol Heights. The victim is 45-year-old Crisantos Pop Chub of Capitol Heights.  

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to the 500 block of Shady Glen Drive for the report of a fight. Once on scene, they located the victim unconscious, and another victim, an adult male, outside lying on the ground. They were both taken to the hospital. Mr. Crisantos Pop Chub died of his injuries on August 30, 2024.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect pushed the victim during an argument causing the victim to fall and hit his head. The second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Pop Chub is charged with second-degree murder and additional charges. The suspect is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Detectives Acusan a Sospechoso de Homicidio Doméstico

Los detectives de la Unidad de Homicidios acusaron a un hombre en relación con el asesinato de su hermano. El sospechoso es Rene Pop Chub, de 32 años, de Capitol Heights. La víctima es Crisantos Pop Chub, de 45 años, de Capitol Heights.
 
El 16 de agosto de 2024, aproximadamente a las 11:30 p.m., los oficiales respondieron a la cuadra 500 de Shady Glen Drive por el informe de una pelea. Una vez en la escena, localizaron a la víctima inconsciente y a otra víctima, un hombre adulto, afuera tirado en el suelo. Ambos fueron llevados al hospital. El Sr. Crisantos Pop Chub murió a causa de sus heridas el 30 de agosto de 2024.
