PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in New Carrollton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in New Carrollton Saturday night. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification to his family. 

On May 21, 2022, at approximately 10:00 pm, officers responded to a pedestrian collision in the 9000 block of Annapolis Road.  Once on scene, they discovered the decedent in the roadway. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

 

The preliminary investigation suggests that the decedent was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross Annapolis Road.  The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and was not injured.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque Peatonal en New Carrollton

La Unidad de Análisis y Reconstrucción de Choques del Departamento de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s investiga un mortal choque contra peatón que se registró el sábado en la noche en New Carrollton. La identidad del fenecido será divulgada una vez se logre notificar a sus familiares.

Missing Man Found

 UPDATE Monday, May 23, 2022: Mr. Butler has been safely located.

Steven Butler Jr.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing man. He is identified as 33-year-old Steven Butler Jr. He was last seen in the 1400 block of Southview Drive at approximately 1:00 am on May 18, 2022.

Mr. Butler is a black male, 5’6” and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, gray sweatpants, and black/red shoes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Oxon Hill, Division IV Investigative Section at 301-749-5064.

Suspect in 2021 Riverdale Domestic-Related Murder in Custody

Norma Rivas-Villacotra

The suspect wanted in connection with a 2021 domestic-related murder in Riverdale is in custody. The suspect is 23-year-old Norma Rivas-Villacorta of Riverdale. She’s charged with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Kayshaun Daly of Riverdale.

On May 22, 2021, at approximately 1:00 pm, officers responded to a home in the 6700 block of Oakland Avenue for the report of an unresponsive male. Officers located the victim inside of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The suspect and victim were in a relationship at the time of the murder. PGPD detectives obtained a warrant for her arrest in September of 2021. The preliminary investigation revealed that in the days following the fatal shooting, Rivas-Villacorta left the country. With the assistance of multiple law enforcement partners, she was taken into custody on Sunday when she flew back into the country. The motive for the murder remains under investigation.

Rivas-Villacorta is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. She remains in custody in Loudoun County, VA, pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

Bajo Custodia Sospechosa de Asesinato de Naturaleza Doméstica Ocurrido en Riverdale en el 2021

La sospechosa a quien se buscaba en conexión a un asesinato de naturaleza doméstica ocurrido en Riverdale durante el 2021 se encuentra bajo custodia. La sospechosa ha sido identificada como Norma Rivas Villacorta, de 23 años y vecina de Riverdale. A esta se le imputa el asesinato a tiros de Kayshaun Daly, de 20 años y vecino de Riverdale.

El 22 de mayo de 2021, a eso de las 1:00 pm, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a una casa ubicada en la cuadra 6700 de Oakland Avenue tras recibir información sobre un individuo quien no daba señales de vida. Los oficiales hallaron a la víctima dentro de la casa, con una herida de bala. A este le declararon muerto en la escena.

El sospechoso y la víctima estaban en una relación al momento del asesinato. En septiembre de 2021 los detectives de PGPD obtuvieron una orden de arresto contra Rivas Villacorta. La investigación preliminar reveló que días luego del asesinato, Rivas Villacorta se fue del país. Con la ayuda de múltiples agencias del orden público, esta fue puesta bajo custodia el domingo cuando regresó al país. El motivo del asesinato continúa bajo investigación.

Fatal Shooting in Glenarden Under Investigation

The Homicide Unit is working to determine who fatally shot a man Sunday evening. The victim is 32-year-old Melvin Love Jr. of Severn. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 7:00 pm, officers responded to the 3200 block of Reed Street for a shooting in the unincorporated section of Glenarden. The victim was located on a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and determine a motive.
