The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect this evening in connection with the homicide earlier today in Adelphi. The suspect is 54-year-old Rudolph Timothy Phelps, Sr. of the 9200 block of Edwards Way in Adelphi.

On February 6, 2015, at about 11:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 9200 block of Edwards Way for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a woman inside of a condo suffering from trauma to the body. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests Phelps recently got into an argument with the victim which escalated into the homicide. Phelps is charged with first degree murder.
