PGPD Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Moped

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a moped. The deceased moped rider is 28-year-old Edwin Castillo-Jiminez of Hyattsville.
 
On March 14, 2026, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers responded to the area of Bladensburg Road at 40th Place in Brentwood. Castillo-Jiminez was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries on March 17, 2026.
 
The preliminary investigation suggests, for reasons now under investigation, Castillo-Jiminez lost control of his moped and collided with a pickup truck. No one inside of the truck was hurt.
