The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Suitland. The deceased driver is 81-year-old Devereaux Shelton of District Heights.
On August 28, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of Brooks Drive and Towne Park Road. Shelton was taken to a hospital where she died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation revealed Shelton struck the front porch of a property on Towne Park Road. No one was inside the home at the time. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
As always, investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash camera or home surveillance footage that may have captured the incident to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department. Even if you believe your footage may not be significant, it could provide valuable information to assist investigators.
