investigating a fatal collision in Brandywine. The victim is identified as
72-year-old James Vaughn of the 1300 block of Split Rock Lane in Fort
Washington.
On November 21, 2013, at
about 11:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 16000 block of Gardner Road
in Brandywine for the report of a collision. When they arrived, they discovered
a car had struck a tree. The driver, Vaughn, was taken to the hospital where
he later died.
The preliminary
investigation reveals Vaughn was traveling westbound on Gardener Road. For
reasons which remain unclear, Vaughn lost control of his car and struck a
tree.
Preliminarily, alcohol
appears to be a factor in the crash.
