15th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Run
Leaving Philadelphia, PA, on Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Arriving in Washington, DC on Saturday, May 14th, 2011
Each year a group of Officers / Survivors runs from Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Washington DC to honor the fallen Officers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. The run began fifteen years ago with a very small group and only several support vehicles and now has evolved into a group of ninety participants who will run the distance from Philadelphia to Washington DC. There will be hundreds of other participants throughout the three days. The run made several stops along the way to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The final leg of the race began on Saturday May 14, 2011 at 0900 hours from the Holiday Inn (10000 Baltimore Ave). All were welcome to participate in the final leg. The entire leg was approximately 12 miles (5 miles to District I) and the pace was set by the survivors of the fallen officers.
A ceremony was held at District I Station to honor three fallen Officers from Maryland:
Cpl. Thomas Jensen (PG County Police)
TFC. Wesley Brown (MD State Police)
Sgt. Hector Ayala (Mont. Co. Police)
