PGPD Arrests Teacher for Sexually Abusing Student



The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a teacher in connection with the sexual abuse of an elementary school student. The suspect is 39-year-old Erwin Magnaye of the 3100 block of Burning Springs Road in Laurel.

Magnaye is a teacher at William Paca Elementary School in Landover. The 9-year-old victim’s mother contacted authorities in February. The victim says Magnaye kissed him in a classroom and had also inappropriately touched him several times beginning in September of 2014. Magnaye is one of the victim’s teachers.

Detectives arrested Magnaye on May 5, 2015. He is charged with sex abuse of a minor, second degree assault, and several sex offenses. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
