Crime Solvers Program More than Doubles Reward Amount for Tipsters

For the first time in its more than 35-year history, the Prince George’s County Crime Solvers organization raised its maximum reward payout to $2,500. Previously, it was $1,000.
The new higher reward amount will be offered for tips on several crimes including robberies, burglaries and thefts. The reward amount for an unsolved homicide, rape and specific violent crime cases remains up to $25,000.
“In many cases, detectives need information from a tipster to help make an arrest. This increased incentive to provide that vital information will have a positive impact for victims and the community,” said Major Robert Brewer, Criminal Investigation Division Commander.
Prince George’s County Crime Solvers is a non-profit organization that relies on private donations and fundraising to complete its vital mission. Crime Solvers provides cash rewards to anonymous tipsters who provide critical information on crimes committed in our community.
Anyone with information about a crime can call the Crime Solvers 24-hour ANONYMOUS tip line at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Secure and anonymous tips may also be submitted via text message, text “CRIMES (274637)” with “PGPD” at the beginning of the tip or online at www.pgcrimesolvers.com.
The new reward amount took effect on January 1, 2016.
