PGPD Arrests Man in Murder of Six-Month-Old Baby


The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a man in connection with the homicide of a baby girl. The suspect is 23-year-old Kareem Bryant of the 1400 block of 18th Street in Southeast Washington. The victim is six-month-old Mariah Tilghman of 75th Avenue in Landover.

On January 6th, 2016, at about 3:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue for the report of a baby who wasn’t breathing. The infant was rushed to a hospital. She died on January 9th.  An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force injuries to the baby’s head and chest. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Bryant has admitted to causing the baby’s injuries. Bryant and the victim’s mother were in a relationship. He is charged with second degree murder and first degree child abuse resulting in death. He was arrested yesterday in the District of Columbia. He is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
