The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Clinton. The deceased driver is 32-year-old Janae Mathis of Clinton.
On June 28, 2026, at approximately 12:50 am, officers responded to Woodyard Road and Pine View Lane for a crash involving one car. Mathis, the driver and sole occupant, died at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Mathis was heading northbound on Woodyard Road near Pine View Lane, when for reasons now under investigation, she appeared to have lost control and ultimately struck multiple trees.
