PGPD Investigating Domestic-Related Shooting; Suspect Located Deceased in South Carolina

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a domestic-related shooting in Upper Marlboro. The victim, an adult female, suffered critical injuries. The suspect, 30-year-old Dante Morris of Fort Mill, South Carolina, was located deceased Tuesday evening in South Carolina. The suspect and victim had been in a prior relationship.

On June 2, 2026, at approximately 7:15 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 10400 block of Birdie Lane in Upper Marlboro. The victim was located outside suffering from gunshot wounds. She remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Based on their preliminary investigation, PGPD detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Morris. Investigators learned that after the shooting, the suspect drove back home to South Carolina.

The PGPD appreciates the assistance of the York County Sheriff’s Office’s (SC) SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiator Unit. The PGPD also appreciates the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force for its assistance during this investigation.
