Cigarette Robbery

Robbery Unit detectives are working to identify and arrest this armed robbery suspect. On June 8th, at about 2:15 am, the suspect targeted a convenience store in the 6100 block of Oxon Hill Road in Fort Washington. He stole several cartons of cigarettes. Convenience Store Robbery

This suspect wearing this distinguishable sweatshirt robbed a convenience store on June 12^th shortly before 4:00 am. The store is in the 3400 block of Dallas Drive in Temple Hills. Please call 301-772-4905 or 1-866-411-TIPS if you have any information on this suspect.

Burglary Investigation

This suspect is wanted in connection with a burglary at a business in the 10000 block of Campus Way South in Largo. This burglary happened on June 13^th at about 6:45 am. Please call 301-390-2160 or 1-866-411-TIPS with information. 

Crime Solvers Tip Leads to Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect

Thanks to a tip from a citizen, detectives with our Sexual Assault Unit identified and arrested the suspect wanted for a sexual assault in Landover last week. He’s 24-year-old Jahahree Chester of no fixed address.

On June 9^th, at about 6:45 am, the suspect sexually assaulted a woman inside of a business in the 4000 block of Garden City Drive. The suspect and victim did not know each other. Preliminarily, detectives believe the suspect followed the victim from the New Carrollton Metro Station. Metro Transit Police assisted in the investigation.

Chester is charged with first and second degree sex offense and first and second degree assault and related charges. He’s custody of the Department of Correction on a no-bond status.

PGPD Citizens’ Police Academy Graduation

This evening, Assistant Chief Hector Velez will congratulate the 48 graduates of Citizens’ Police Academy Session #38 at a ceremony at Police Headquarters.

During the 12-week program, the citizens learned extensively about the Prince George’s County Police Department. Representatives from nearly every division interacted with the class, giving details about their division and taking questions.

We thank the citizens for their dedication to this academy and taking an interest in learning more about the PGPD.

Chief Stawinski Statement on Terror Attack in Orlando

The Prince George's County Police Department is closely monitoring the latest developments in the unprovoked attack in Orlando. As always, we are in close communication with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners. We are unaware of any specific threats to our community at this time. 

We want the citizens of Prince George's County to know we are always vigilant in our efforts to keep this community safe, both with covert and overt assets. The men and women of the Prince George's County Police Department extend our deepest condolences to the families of those killed today and we pray for the many who are injured.
